OUR STORY
A Jackson Golf Legacy Since 1988
Grove Park Junior Golf Clinic Inc., founded in 1988 from a rich tradition of African American golf in Jackson, Mississippi.
Its roots reach back to the caddies who worked alongside golfer at Jackson-area Country Club, Continental Country Club, Sonny Guy Golf Club, and Grove Park Golf Course.
These caddies did more than carry golf bags. They learned the game, shared what they knew with one another, taught others to caddie and play, and helped build a community of golfers.
From that tradition came professional golfers and caddies, golf course pros, amateur golfers, and recreational golfers-and generations of men and women who developed a lifelong relationship with the game.
Grove Park Junior Golf Clinic grew from that legacy.
PASSING THE GAME TO THE NEXT GENERATION
From its beginning, Grove Park Junior Golf Clinic has worked to ensure that young people have an opportunity to experience golf, learn its fundamental, and understand the values embedded in the game.
Boys and girls learn golf techniques and skills while developing qualities u reach far beyond the course:
Honesty - Integrity -Sportsmanship - Confidence - Perseverance - Courtesy - Sound Judgement. These nine core characteristics remain central to the Grove Park experience.
Golf is the vehicle.
Developing young people is the mission.
THE LEGACY CONTINUES
More than three decades after its founding, Grove Park Junior Gold continues introducing young people to the game and the life lessons that come with it.
Today, our junior golfers learn and play at Pete Brown Golf Facility in Jackson, Mississippi, carrying forward a tradition that began generations before them.
As Grove Park Junior Golf looks toward the future, our commitment remains the same: create opportunities for young people, preserve the legacy of those who came before us, and make sure another generation has the opportunity to discover the game.
